High Performance Sessions

 

The Club offers South Adelaide Basketball Club Junior District players an additional, optional High Performance sessions for players to improve their overall skills every morning during school terms. (Currently under review Nov 2023)

The sessions are open to both boys and girls in U/12’s (second year only), U/14’s, U/16’s and U/18’s and will take place from 6.40am – 7.40am @ Mitchell Park Sports and Community Centre.

Sessions are planned a week in advance and have been targeted towards aspects of the game to help more athletes attain a state standard of play. New drills and skills have been added to this program.

Early morning HP Sessions

  • MondaysShooting volume & creating own shots. – This session uses the very popular Dr Dish Rebel plus rebounding machines. This machine allows us to develop players use of optimal angles of release and arc, which allow the shooter to have an optimal success rate and shooting percentage. We use the Dr Dish to push the athlete to shooting fatigue, as such developing muscular endurance and strength. A range of drills and technique shooting is used in achieving this.
  • TuesdaysShooting volume & creating own shots. – This session uses the very popular Dr Dish Rebel plus rebounding machines.   • WednesdayOn ball screen work and finishing – Athletes will be working and learning how to use this aspect of play, as a weapon in their arsenal in games. It provides small sided competitive situations where athletes learn the offensive and defensive concepts to gain an advantage.
  • ThursdaySuccessful finishing around basket. – This is for all sized players. Work in a competitive 1 on 1 situation, play games and place athletes in situations that replicate what they will do in games. This develops athletes to compete and finish under pressure.
