Hoops & Her (Empowering the next Generation)

Hoops & Her at South Adelaide Basketball

Empowering the next generation of girls through basketball, leadership, and community.

Hoops & Her is South Adelaide Basketball Club’s dedicated 10-month initiative for girls aged 13–18 from the District and Domestic teams, designed to develop confidence, skills, and connection — both on and off the court.

Funded through the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing, this program is more than just training — it’s about building a movement that supports and inspires young women to lead, grow, and thrive in every part of basketball.

🔹 What’s Involved

Our program is built on four key pillars — Her Game, Her Voice, Her Path, and Her Crew — and delivered through a series of engaging, empowering modules:

🏀 Skills Clinics – Hoops & Her: Level Up

These on-court sessions are designed to build confidence and skills in a fun and encouraging environment. Led by South's top coaches and female role models, Level Up is designed for girls of all abilities to sharpen their game, grow their mindset, and push themselves forward — together.

🎓 Coaching Intro – Hoops & Her: Coach the Court

Interested in taking your first steps into coaching? This hands-on introductory program supports girls and young women to learn the basics of coaching in a safe and inclusive setting. Participants will gain foundational knowledge, real-court experience, and be encouraged to explore coaching as a future pathway.

🛎️ Referee Pathway – Hoops & Her: Call the Game

For girls who want to learn the game from a new angle, our referee development sessions provide formal training, mentoring, and real-game opportunities. Whether you’re just starting or want to become more confident with the whistle, Call the Game is your pathway to officiating success.

🗣️ Mentoring Series – Hoops & Her: Panther Talks

At the heart of Hoops & Her is Panther Talks, a mentoring stream that connects girls with South Adelaide’s NBL1 Women. These sessions include Q&As, guest speakers, and check-ins where young players can learn about leadership, resilience, and navigating their journey in sport and life.

💬 Wellbeing Events – Hoops & Her: Own Your Space

These sessions are all about self-care, confidence, and building strength on and off the court. Delivered in partnership with local health professionals, Own Your Space covers injury prevention, mental wellbeing, and the tools girls need to feel empowered in all environments — on court, in school, and beyond.
