Marion Basketball Stadium Approved
A Defining Moment for Our Community

South Adelaide Basketball is proud to share that the new Marion Basketball Stadium has received final approval at the Special Council Meeting held on Tuesday, 14 April 2026.

This is a moment that will be remembered for generations.

For more than 70 years, South Adelaide has called "The Shed" home. This decision secures the future of basketball in our region and ensures that thousands of local families will have access to a facility built for where our game is today and where it is heading.

We would like to sincerely thank the City of Marion for their commitment to community sport and for backing this project. We thank the Mayor, our club patron Kris Hanna, and all Elected Members who supported this decision.

We also acknowledge Federal Member for Boothby, Louise Miller-Frost, whose election commitment of $6 million has played a critical role in making this project possible.

This outcome is the result of years of work behind the scenes. It reflects the dedication of many people who have given their time, energy and belief to this vision.

We acknowledge the leadership of current and past Presidents: Scott Thur, June McKenzie, Zoran Pajkovski and Bill Yeo, along with our current and past committee members, volunteers, and General Manager Simon Crowden, who have all contributed to bringing this project to life.

This approval builds on the major milestone achieved in September, when South Adelaide Basketball was awarded management rights to the future Marion Basketball Stadium. Together, these outcomes position our club to lead the next chapter of basketball in southern Adelaide.

Most importantly, we thank our members, past and present. Your support has made this possible.

This stadium will create opportunities for young players, support families, strengthen community connections and ensure basketball continues to grow across the City of Marion for many years to come.

This is more than a Stadium.

This is our future.
