South Adelaide came out aggressively, taking a 19–16 lead after the first quarter. Hills responded with efficient inside scoring in the second, giving them a slim halftime edge. The third quarter was tight, with the Panthers holding defensive stops and forcing turnovers to keep within striking distance. Heading into the final minutes, South trailed by only two, but Hills managed to close out behind timely baskets and composure at the free-throw line.
